All my life I have had an interest in health and fitness. Around 5th grade, I remember putting on some extra weight. I remember having low confidence because of being overweight. From 5th grade to my freshmen year in high school I remember the feeling of being overweight. The lack of confidence, and how differently people treat you. In the eighth grade, some friends convinced me to play football. I was hesitant because I did not know what was inside of me, what I was really capable of. It wasn’t until the end of my junior year though that I discovered I was athletic. After my junior season, I began to lift weights with a friend to get ready for my senior year. That is when I discovered my passion for fitness as I discovered the change that training made in me. As my body changed, I saw how people treated me differently (as they saw a difference in me) and because of that my confidence grew.
From high school through college, my desire to learn and train grew. I studied health and fitness in college, just because I had a passion to learn and grow. I was sitting with my advisor deciding what to declare as my minor, and discovered I was only two classes away from completing a minor in health and fitness, so that is what I did. Looking back, if I had it to do again, I would have double majored in Business and health/fitness.
By the end of college, I learned what works well in my body in regards to fitness and nutrition and how to get fast results. I’ve had ups and downs in my fitness level, but I’ve always been able to get in the gym, clean up my diet, and get fit very fast. Along the way, I have had friends and family train with me and I was able to help them achieve different fitness goals. Through that, I discovered I have a passion for helping others achieve their fitness goals because of the difference it has made in me and my life. For me, a big part of living your best life starts with being healthy, fit, and having an overall high quality of wellness, and I love helping others achieve that as well, and help them see how much more is inside them. When you are fit, healthy, and well, everything else in life is easier and better. We all have trials and challenges in life, and we are able to take the on and overcome them easier when we are fit, healthy, and well. Since college, I’ve studied and applied what I learned even more than I did in school.
I’m currently facing my biggest challenge in regards to health and fitness. I have been diagnosed with hashimoto’s. It is an autoimmune disease that causes your body’s immune system to attack your thyroid, which causes havoc on all of your other systems. In me, it is extreme brain fog, inflammation and pain in different parts of my body, weight gain, muscle loss and muscles not being able to fully recover. Because of this, I have not been able to train.
I’ve been on a mission to overcome this autoimmune disease and get back to the healthy, strong, fit, and overall well version of me, and create the amazing and free life I've always wanted to live. This has increased my desire to help others feel well and create their best life also.
